MDA Summer Camp at Camp Carefree

Camp Carefree provides a free, one week camping experience for children from North Carolina and neighboring states with specific health problems and disabilities. The program also includes camps for well siblings of chronically ill or disabled children and a week for those with a parent who is disabled or seriously ill. Additionally, Sickle Cell Anemia Camp and weekend retreats for Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Brain Injury Association, Hospice, Cub Scouts and many church youth groups are held there. Summer Funshine Day Camp
Summer Funshine Day Camp is designed to provide recreational and educational opportunities for persons with developmental        disabilities. The hope is that participants' quality of life will be enhanced through fellowship with others in an atmosphere where everyone is loved, affirmed, and valued.

Sessions: One-week and seasonal activities/events throughout the year 
Details: Accessible; inclusive; medical staff on site; no charge to attend; some adults with disabilities volunteer as honorary camp staff; each camper is required to have an adult family member or caregiver with them; special event on Thursday evening (3:00-10:00pm) includes families.
